KOLKATA: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has received an anonymous threat letter at his home warning him against attending a district felicitation function later this month.
Ganguly, who is now the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, reportedly got the letter by post on Saturday.
He was scheduled to visit Midnapore district for a function organised by the district sports federation at the Vidyasagar University on January 19.
The former India captain said he had lodged a police complaint about this. “I have intimated the whole matter to the police as well as the organisers of the programme there,” he said on Monday.
Without revealing the whole content of the letter, he only said the letter warned him of grave consequences if he dares to visit the district.
Asked whether he will be travelling for the programme now, the southpaw said, “I have not decided yet and am waiting to hear from the authorities on this.”
